NEW YEAR, NEW OPPORTUNITIES

I admit that I have a bit of an addiction…to books. i have a collection of cook books, and a library of art books! In the last year, while I was learning and honing my skills with colored pencil, I purchased a few books along the way, as you can see.

This year I want to choose a lesson from each of the books and learn new techniques, try new color combinations, and bring my colored pencil skills to a higher level. One of the artists I admire so much is Paco Martin Domínguez. I was so honored when Paco sent me an inscribed copy of his book, Colored Pencil Hyper Realism. I know I will learn an incredible amount from drawing the projects in his book! You should check out his amazing award winning pieces on his website, or on his instagram account: @pacomartinart 

I have also signed up for a course with Megan J Seiter, who is a master colored pencil artist as well. Her flower pieces are exquisite, and I look forward to learning her techniques for intermediate/advanced colored pencil artists. You can follow her on Instagram: @ms_fineart. 

As I complete different projects, I’ll let you know how they went…and whether I progressed in this challenging medium!
